being around a pregnant woman
Ok, most of you would know that my older sister’s pregnant… she is so so pregnant, it’s actually fascinating! Here’s how it’s like being around a pregnant woman who’s about to pop…
10 am – she calls me whilst i was workin on my assignment at Coffee Club and says she’d like a coffee or smthg. hmm.. ok, but i’m not gonna be home in a couple of hours. Alright, she might want one in a couple of hours, so text her before i leave Coffee Club. she then tells me she’d like to follow me to this seminar in the city. Great! I love company… wld love catching up with her on the way there. We agreed that i’ll pick her up at 12:45pm.
12:02pm – i call her and asks if it’d be ok if we caught the train. she says yes… she needs to walk. apparently the doc says she needs to keep active. it’s good for the baby.
12:22pm – she calls and says she’s decided not to go. i’m like… ok, are u sure? and she goes, “err… what’s the seminar about again? … ok i’ll go with u.”
12:44pm – i’m about to step out to the garage and she calls and says she’s not going. I’m like… ok, are u sure? and she says, “yeah i’m too tired”.
12:45pm – i’m in the car and she calls and says “wait! i’m coming!!!!!!!” i’m like… ok, are u sure? and she says, “yeah, wait for me!”
12:45-12:48pm – i wait in my car outside her garage…
12:49pm – she comes up with this big bag, 2 books and a cloth in her hand. She manages to climb into the front seat and says “the cloth’s just in case my water breaks”. i’m like, what?!!! “yeah, that’s what i’m meant to do”. i’m thinking… ooh gosh! am i meant to wipe it up if her water breaks? doesn’t that mean she goes into labour? what if her water breaks in my car?!!!
we have this great sisterly conversation on the way to the city… ok we had a hard time finding an affordable car park in the city.
1:55pm – she says “let’s just go home”. I’m like.. what??!!! I’m here for a seminar. I need to go to this seminar thingy. She’s like, “but parking’s so expensive” lol… i’m like… uh-huh so? i’m sure we’ll find one.
2pm – she drops me off at the seminar place at Flinders St, takes the car to Melb Uni where there’re more parking lots. She’s meant to pick me up at 4pm.
2:52pm – she sends me a text “Guess what i found free car park… ticket machine out of order
” lol… i guess they (pregnant women) get lucky… God takes care of them.
3:41pm – she texts me again “Can you come out earlier? i am tired n bored”
lol
3:58pm – i get this phone call from my brother-in-law saying Lena’s having sharp pains, and she’s sitting in a cafe. I quickly hopped on a tram and headed to where she was. I see her sitting there… with a pen and note pad only one contraction recorded. *sigh*
i wonder how many false alarms there might be before baby arrives…
